After the Mirror Breaks, Allies Emerge: Elements of Magick
with Irisanya & Shiray
“One day A
lice came to a fork in the road and saw a Cheshire cat in a tree. ‘Which road do I take?’ she asked. ‘Where do you want to go?’ was his response. ‘I don’t know,’ Alice answered. ‘Then,’ said the cat, ‘it doesn’t matter.’”
― Lewis Carroll, Alice in Wonderland
Are you ready for another adventure? Standing in front of the broken glass, the natural world beckons us, calls to us, and the White Rabbit stands at our side, waiting for our answer.
Do we dare to see the place around us, the place we may not see or recognize as easily in our daily lives? Are we willing to change?
In this Elements of Magic path, we dare to go deeper and to discover the elements as our allies. We call to them, we sing to them, and we dance with them, ears, eyes, and hearts wide open. Our allies sing to us in the wind, warm us in the fire, quench our thirst, and ground us deep in wise roots. Yet, this relationship is fragile, and we sometimes spin so quickly that we can lose our bearings.
Our path is one of allyship and awakening to those energies around us. In the starry sky, we swirl and move into the great cosmic stew. We are children of Earth and Starry Heaven. In communing with nature, in identifying the elements, in trance, in song, in shared experiences, and in building a ritual of connection, we come together with air, fire, water, earth, and spirit.
This path is for those who are new to camp, and for those who are not-so-new. Those who are called to not only call out for allies, but to take their place as allies themselves. Fully inspired by the breaking of illusions to see the relationships around us. To know we are not alone in our work.
Let’s Pretend We’re Dreaming Rites of Passage!
with Pandora & Laurie Dietrich
“…this curious child was very fond of pretending to be two people…”
Are you starting a transformative journey? In the middle of one? Finishing one up? Then you’re acquainted with the thin places. The crossroads and the bridges and the doorways. The borderlands and the edges. The Rites of Crossing Over and of Bringing Back.
As our journeys take us between the worlds, and through all of the worlds, let’s join up, along the path, for a little while, at this place where our footsteps overlap. As fellow travelers, let’s spend the week of camp observing the boundaries between worlds, and playing with when we can ignore those boundaries and when we’d best leave them be.
Let’s ask Alice what she knows about dreaming, and pretending. About being someone else’s dream as well as her own. About being the vehicle that gives that dream feet to walk in the daylight world. Can we spend the week living playfully and purposefully with the Dream? Can we live in our various selves, play with our various performances of those selves, travel fluidly through our dreaming and solid realities, and use ritual to make sense of them all? Can you bring me in to your dream? Can you join me in mine?
Spend the week at the intersection of Creation and Surrender. Costumes, props, dream journals all welcome. (You don’t need to be someone who remembers your dreams to enjoy this path! Your dreams are working in you whether consciously or unconsciously, and there will be lots to do besides dreaming!) Group trance, dreamwork, and performance exercises will harmonize, to create a week that moves us all through into a new place. Through the looking glass? Down the rabbit hole? Who knows? Your own adventure, your own rite of passage.
Re-crafting Alice: The Conscious Art of Changing Shape at Will
With Phoenix LeFae and Chelidon
“How puzzling all these changes are! I’m never sure what I’m going to be, from one minute to another.”
― Lewis Carroll, Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland
Are you willing to enter the unknown, with Alice as your guide, and explore the power held in wonder and self-transformation? Are you ready to experiment with your own size, shape, power, and potential? As witches and revolutionaries we often find ourselves in situations where we must grow bigger or smaller; where we may need to disappear; where we have to be able to shapeshift. As witches and Priestesses, we must be able to do this work at will. Stretching to the heavens, shrinking into the floor of the earth, becoming an animal, and drinking in the Gods — changing form is an act of power when done with purpose and intention. Sometimes, like Alice, it is true that becoming something else is the best way to figure out who we truly are.
Size itself is a matter of will and circumstance, but to be right-sized is at times a great challenge — first, to know what that “right” size might be, and then to shift and be it in the moment. We may have found we’re taking up too much space in one circumstance, while realizing that we have allowed ourselves to disappear or shrink too much in others. How can we know, own, and come fully into our own power, while making space for others in theirs, and what might it be like to live as one right-sized being among a community of other right-sized allies, each gracefully shifting and changing as needed, in beautiful self-possession?
Together we will follow the path of Alice, and with her as our companion we will learn what side of the mushroom will make you larger and what side makes you small. We will taste from the bottles of mystery to alter our consciousness and discover the cakes that hold the potential for bringing us back to center. Power comes not only from dramatic transformation, but also from knowing how to quietly and quickly come back into right size, whatever size that may be.
In this path we will work and play with the power of shapeshifting. We will explore our own edges and practice becoming bigger and smaller, brighter and in shadow. We will play with glamour and true seeming, changing our shapes, becoming other beings in order to help shift reality in the greater world around us. We will do this using trance, music, song, aspecting, ecstatic ritual, deep witnessing, and personal transformation, using the tools of the Iron and Pearl Pentacles. We will become like Alice, changing form as needed, in order to go where we need to go, do the work to which we are called, and learn more about our environment, the world around us, and ourselves.
